The Wenatchee Police Department spent most of its New Year's Eve responding to 22 separate fireworks complaints as residents were clearly anxious to celebrate 2020 coming to a close.

Captain Edgar Reinfeld stated there were however two DUIs in the first 90 minutes of the New Year, one involving a collision.

"Pretty typical for New Year's." said Reinfeld, "I believe we started last year with three or four DUIs in the first few hours of the new year, but anywhere from one to four would be typical."

The East Wenatchee Police Department received just 6 fireworks complaints Thursday night into Friday morning. Chelan County Sheriff's deputies responded to 19 fireworks complaints, while the Douglas County Sheriff's Office investigated 7 calls involving fireworks.
