The short-term rental task force presented the proposed new regulations to Chelan County Commissioners Tuesday and it will allow the businesses to remain open though with new restrictions.

Community Development Director Jim Brown says the groups tackled seven big topics to come up with the new code.

"The recommendation is that existing short-term rentals that can meet the requirements in their respective areas, such as Manson in one case or county wide, that are set for set forth generally speaking within the proposal can be grandfathered in."

Brown praised the group's ability to have tough conversations in a cordial way to create the new rules.

There are several updates including limits on occupancy in a rental, distance between rentals and the total number.

"The cap was set, and this was a challenging conversation. It was a point of negotiation for both parties that frankly came a long ways. Both parties came a long way to land on 6% by individual zip code with Manson being 9% where they already have an established process in place."

Brown believes that they could implementat the new rules in July.
