Ol' Saint Nick visited East Wenatchee over the weekend spending Saturday south of 9th St. and Sunday north of that road.

Events Director Trina Elmes says they was a lot of support for the pandemic-friendly idea.

"We say so many people just yelling, 'Thank you!' and, 'This is such a great idea.' We had crowds at some of the elementary schools. Even crowds out in front of the fire station."

Elmes says many of the people were watching and waving from inside, but they were having to balance not having groups gathering, but also letting everyone who wanted to, an opportunity to see Santa.

She hopes it was able to bring the community together.

"We really need to keep our positivity up and we want to bring joy to the community. I think this is something that can bring joy to the kids and it doesn't matter how old you are, young or old, everyone loves Santa."

Santa got an escort from multiple law enforcement vehicles and a fire truck while riding on the back of a Douglas County Fire District 2 vehicle.
