Small Fire at the Bottom of Grant Road Monday

Crews from Douglas County Fire District 2 and Chelan County 1 responded to a report of a brush fire at 11 Grant Road near Fred Meyer in East Wenatchee Monday morning around 4:15 am.

Spokesperson Kay McKellar said that firefighters arrived to discover a fire about an 1/8th of an acre in size. Although it's unclear if this was another instance of a campfire that got out of control, one individual near the fire was encouraged to stay away.

"There is a burn ban on in Chelan and Douglas County. No one is allowed to start a fire like that." McKellar explained, "This particular fire is of unknown origin, but it is a reminder to folks that we are in a high fire danger right now so we need to use caution."

It only took crews about 45 minutes to fully put out the fire and return to service.
