The State of Washington could soon adopt more stringent measures when it comes to businesses requiring proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

Governor Jay Inslee recently praised Jefferson and Clallam counties for requiring proof of vaccination for bar and restaurant patrons, saying more counties could be doing the same thing. He also implied the idea could be applied state-wide.

"It's the kind of measure that we might consider on a wider basis as this pandemic increases." stated Inslee, "We are considering measures where the state can help move in this direction. I have not made final decisions in this regard."

Inslee recognized teams like the Seahawks, Kraken, Sounders, Cougars, Huskies and others for requiring those visiting their venues to be fully vaccinated.

The Washington State Department of Health is also working with King County and certain vendors to develop a system to easily verify COVID-19 vaccination status through the state.

Inslee said Washington needs to be pedal to the metal against the pandemic.

"So that's not something that's going to happen in the next few days, but we are looking at it and working at it to see if we can make it easier for businesses to fulfill that decision." added Inslee, "Either because they want to or because it's mandated by the state. That is something that is under consideration."
