If you're planning on visiting the National Forest during the heat wave, Okanogan-Wenatchee Public Affairs Officer Robin Demario says it's important to pace yourself and bring lots of water to stay hydrated.

"Get out early in the morning and return later when temperatures aren’t so brutally hot. Be sure to take a lot of breaks in the shade, wear a hat and use sunscreen, and think about whether you should leave your dog at home rather than take them out in the hot temperatures."

She also stressed that it is important to keep track of your own fluid intake, but those of any children or other vulnerable populations.
