There’s Still Time for Snow Fun in the National Forest
The sun is starting to hit the national forest, but that doesn't mean a lack of winter sports fun. Okanogan-Wenatchee Public Affairs Officer Robin Demario says be prepared for cold temperatures, particularly at night.
"Echo Ridge Nordic Ski Area, near Chelan, has great groomed trails and fantastic views, and snowmobilers in the Lake Wenatchee area can also see wonderful sunrises at Sugarloaf Lookout."
Forest officials do ask that you don't drive up forest road, even if it's snow free in lower elevations.
"A lot of damage can be done to the road if you drive on it while it is wet and muddy, and the surface is soft and slippery. Please, don’t drive on forest roads until they have a chance to dry out and harden up."
Also don't drive over groomed routes, and check avalanche conditions before going out.
