Temporary firefighting resources are helping with critical operations on the Schneider Springs Fire.

According to the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, the resources are coming from multiple jurisdictions to assist in a containment strategy on the blaze's southern perimeter. Burnout operations are being used to prevent the fire from moving towards Naches and impacting private and commercial property north of US Highway 12. Temporary personnel will remain in place to hold and secure containment lines along Malloy Road and Bethel Ridge.

The fire is over 80,000 acres and is just 8% contained.

Yakima Valley Emergency Management reduced evacuation levels around the fire as of 8:00 a.m. this morning. Evacuation notices for the Schneider Springs Fire are as follows:


LEVEL 2: Bumping River Road from north to south

LEVEL 1: Hwy 410 from Bumping River Road to U.S. Route 12, and from U.S. 12 at Hwy 410 west to Tieton Reservoir Road.
