Columbia Valley Community Health, Columbia Pediatrics and the Wenatchee School District are organizing a forum to guide parents on how to identify warning signs of depression and topics falling under the same umbrella on November 12. The panel discussion will feature several seasoned professionals and will be held at Pybus Public Market's LocalTel Event Center from 7-8.

"We just know there's an overall kind of stigma about depression, but more so people don't know is this something part of normal growing up or is how my child acting something I should be concerned about," said Katharine Bohm, CVCH communications specialist.

Some topics covered will be how to spark a conversation with a teen, normalizing treatment, why today's kids may be growing up less happy than previous generations and ways to maximize happiness.

"I think the biggest takeaway is that family members are going to leave with talking points that they can take home and talk to their children and learning what not to do," said Bohm. "No matter what your child might be going through, you're going to have some great resources."

The event is free, however seating is limited so it's encouraged to register via eventbrite.
