Washington State Apple Blossom Festival Picks Theme, Director General

The Washington State Apple Blossom Festival announced Tuesday that Wenatchee City Council member and Wenatchee Convention Center General Manager Linda Herald will be the Director General for the 2022 celebration.

Administrator Darci Christoferson said to be the Director General is a three-year commitment, starting as the Program Director the first year and moving to Assistant Director General the next.

"The next year of course they are Director General. When they are Director General, they oversee the whole board and they're basically my boss. They work with me all year long to plan and produce our festival," explained Christoferson.

The theme for the 103rd Apple Blossom Festival is "Celebrating Our Roots".

"It was actually Linda's idea. She came to the Executive Committee and said 'What do you think of this theme?' Everybody loved it." continued Christoferson, "I think with Linda, she loves Wenatchee and loves everything about it. So I think she just kind of felt it was time to celebrate what makes Wenatchee what it is, and that's the people and its heritage."

The first Apple Blossom event is the annual fundraising auction October 23rd.
