Wenatchee Holds December Public Hearing Over Possible Business Tax
The city of Wenatchee will be holding a public hearing on December 12 at 5:15 and business owners may want to mark their calendars. The hearing will be on the consideration of adding a 'Business and Occupation Tax' to the Wenatchee city code.
If approved, the tax would impose a business and occupation tax of two tenths of one percent of the gross revenue of the business. It would be capped at $600,000 in any one year.
"If this ordinance is approved, it would be a new tax on businesses, but it only applies to businesses providing professional healthcare services and only those businesses that have gross receipts over $20 million in any calendar year or $5 million in any quarter," said Steve Smith, city attorney.
The public hearing will be held in City Hall.
