The City of Wenatchee will pay Matia Contractors out of Ferndale, Washington roughly $892,000 for work on its sewer system.

The work will extend sewer service to Poplar Avenue, Mulberry Street and Pershing Street between McKittrick Street and Maple Street.

Project Engineeer Ryan Harmon said, "This project was designated in our (Sewer Comprehensive Plan) to fill some gaps that we have in our sewer system. It will add about 2300 linear feet of mainline gravity pipe and then provide service to potentially 51 different parcels."

Matia's bid was roughly $94,000 below the engineer's estimate.

Work is expected to start in the early spring and end sometime in the summer. The construction contract includes 50 working days.
