Kittitas County Sheriff's Deputies arrested a 24-year-old man for arson after two haystacks on the west end of Ellensburg were burned Tuesday night.

Deputies say DeMarcco Covey lit the two stacks and then tried to hide in a shed.

Firefighters battled the two blazes while an employee of Anderson Hay, who owned the hay, indicated that they had seen a person leaving the scene before attempting to hide.

The Sheriff's Office says because of the distance between the two fires, it is unlikely that one started the other.

Covey faces charges of arson and trespass.
