Moses Lake Police investigators are calling the discovery of a body Wednesday morning "suspicious in nature".

Chief Kevin Fuhr said a person was walking their dog in a marshy area north of Montlake Park when he spotted a body among the cattails. The bystander was on a path that eventually leads to a couple of private boat docks.

"He could see some injuries on the body and the person was not moving." explained Fuhr, "He assumed the worst, called 9-1-1 and stayed on scene until officers arrived."

The identity of the possible victim is being withheld until their next of kin is notified. Detectives are already following up on leads and speaking with those connected to the deceased.

Investigators hope to have an autopsy scheduled Thursday or Friday.
