Campus police at Central Washington University are looking for people who defaced the school's library with what it calls homophobic and politically partisan vandalism.

A letter from CWU President Jim Wohlpart said the school would not tolerate acts of aggression against the LGBTQIA+ community.

The vandalism reportedly took place while the library was open, but was not noticed by any staff members.

The markings were erased after the vandalism occurred last Thursday night at the Ellensburg campus.

Wohlpart called the vandalism at "heinous act."

"Central Washington University welcomes, celebrates, and supports all members of our community and seeks to grow--not to diminish--the diversity of identities, cultures, and communities that make CWU a rich and welcoming place of learning," said Wolpart.

Anyone with information about the vandalism is being asked to call 509-963-2111, with confidentiality promised.
