Chelan County Declares State of Emergency

A State of Emergency was declared Wednesday in Chelan County in response to the Red Apple Fire north of Wenatchee.

Commissioner Kevin Overbay signed the resolution and formal declaration will be signed by all the commissioners Monday. The emergency declaration gives commissioners the ability to use local resources with less red tape and is generally a prerequisite for most state and federal recovery assistance funding.

Earlier this month Governor Inslee declared a statewide state of emergency related to the growing risk of wildfires.
