As temperatures slide higher in the summer season, Chelan PUD has some suggestions to keep cool in warm weather and also keep electric bills low cost.

"This isn't the time to install a new air conditioner, this is the time to manage what you have right now," said Josh Mitchell, residential energy advisor. "One thing everyone has is windows. Practice proper window management."

Mitchell advises with hot weather, run the AC with the blinds down to keep the sunlight out of the house. As soon as the sun starts to set and the temp drops to lower than 80 degrees, open the blinds back up and crack open the window to let the fresh air cool the home.

"If you have any incandescent light bulbs in your house, get rid of them," said Mitchell. "LED lights better, they last longer and produce very low heat compared to incandescent lights."

Practice window management, exchange out incandescent light bulbs and run a fan if a room gets too toasty this summer.
