The city of Ephrata coordinated with the Ephrata schools to convert old tennis courts at Columbia Ridge Elementary Courts into pickleball courts. Washington State University student and city of Ephrata intern, Josh Johnson, led the process for establishing the new recreational addition to the city.

"We are just now in the final steps of getting the second coat of paint on and getting the nets up and getting it ready to get played on," said Johnson.

According to Johnson, with the final touches underway, the pickleball court will be available to play on by this weekend, the first weekend of October.

"I think it's a really good thing to add to the community because we don't have pickleball courts here and we're seeing a lot of pickleball courts being built in other small towns," said Johnson. "It would be a good way to get an older crowd of people to go and be active outside as well."
