The region may finally be turning the corner in terms of COVID-19 cases after the Chelan-Douglas Health District released its weekly COVID thermographic Thursday.

After about a month of stagnant case rates, the two county area saw a massive drop last week. According to the thermographic, cases per 100,000 people over 14 days fell from 94 the week previous to 60 for the week ending July 7th, a 36% reduction.

Health officials say they have been anticipating the drop for some time because of the area's strong vaccination numbers. Both counties increased their vaccination rate by just 0.4% last week.
