The Chelan-Douglas Health District released its weekly COVID-19 case thermographic Wednesday and it appears as though the region's substantial improvement was short-lived.

COVID case rates grew by more than 50% from last week to 91 cases per 100-thousand people. Before last week's rate suddenly dropped to 60, the region had stagnated around 90 cases for the better part of a month.

Health officials say the week before last's numbers dropped because of the region's increasing vaccination rate. They blame the 4th of July weekend as the reason for the return to higher numbers, not the more infectious Delta variant.
