Disagreement Over Slidewaters Reopening Could Set Showdown
The Chelan-Douglas Health District released a statement Friday night clarifying that Slidewaters Water Park in Chelan has not been given permission to reopen.
CDHD says they reviewed the Park's plan and found them to be well prepared to meet the requirements for safe operation when they were able to open.
The Health District says this was misinterpreted as being able to open.
Robert and Burke Bordner, owners of the park, posted on Facebook a response saying that this is a "Lie from an administrator trying to cover up the poor management of the CDHD."
The Bordners say they will open as scheduled Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. saying they have crossed a point of no return with "employees and customers showing up ... We have no choice but to reopen."
Slidewaters has been informed that if they do open, as they were planning, Saturday, it would cause the suspension of their permits and expose them to action by state agencies.
Water Parks are not allowed to open until the County is in Phase 3 under the Governor's Safe Start plan.
Slidewaters posted this document provided to them by CDHD on their Facebook:
