An impaired driver took Wenatchee police officers on a short but wild chase this week.

Captain Brain Chance said an officer was responding to a report of a car accident in the 1000 block of Springwater Avenue Monday when the suspect vehicle took off.

"The vehicle traveled from the original location on Springwater Avenue, continued westbound across Western Avenue, then went south on Woodward." Chance detailed, "At this point the vehicle was actually observed to be swerving into oncoming traffic and there were several motorists that had to diverge off of the roadway to avoid colliding with the other vehicle."

The suspect vehicle continued driving erratically down 5th street, until ultimately the driver attempted to turn onto Cedarwood Lane. The vehicle struck two power boxes, street sings, road signs and a fire hydrant before the officer was finally able to pin the suspect vehicle in.

53-year-old Timothy Fryhover was booked into the Chelan County Regional Justice Center and is facing hit-and-run, DUI, and driving with a suspended licence charges.
