An accident involving a dump truck and a power line caused delays for motorists traveling through Orondo via State Route 97 Monday afternoon.

Douglas County PIO Meaghan Vibbert said the incident, which resulted in a drooping power pole, occurred around 2:40 and forced WSDOT workers to create a detour.

"That took about 13 customers out of power." explained Vibbert, "So crews were working on getting that sectionalized and the customers back in power."

There were no injuries, and the PUD was onsite for less than two hours. A contractor working for the WSDOT at the SR 97/US 2 junction caught the overhanging power line, causing the issue.

PUD workers will return at a later date to replace the pole.
