The City of East Wenatchee has its 2022 budget in place, with expenditures expected to outpace revenue by about $2.6 million.

Council members unanimously voted in favor of the budget November 16th. The city's overall 2022 budget is just over $29 million.

Finance Director Josh DeLay said the budget keeps the city in a very strong financial position.

"Our 2022 budget allows the city to accomplish several needed capital projects, hire additional needed staff and fund departments' discretionary needs a necessary," stated DeLay.

The budget includes significant changes like an almost $23,000 increase to the amount the city is paying the Chelan County Jail, and a large decrease in street improvement and stormwater fund expenditures following the completion of the 10th Street project.
