The City of East Wenatchee has its engineer consultant in place for a couple of rehabilitation projects on Grant Road.

Public Works Manager Garren Melton said the city will pay RH2 Engineering just over $290,000 for consulting on the two projects.

The work includes a concrete intersection at Eastmont Avenue and Grant Road, new road on the 10-block stretch from Georgia Avenue to Kentucky Avenue and a possible third task if more grant money is secured. If the city is able to secure either a grant application that has already been filed or a Transportation Improvement Board grant in the fall, staff will look to resurface Valley Mall Parkway to Eastmont Avenue and/or Eastmont Avenue to Georgia Avenue.

The city has received roughly $2.8 million in grants from the national highway system for the two primary projects. The grants did not require any type of match from East Wenatchee.

The project's contract is currently under review from WSDOT, but no major changes are reportedly expected.

Melton also provided an update to the large bump that's forming on the SR 28 extension by Fred Meyer. The state will have a geotech do some exploratory work before any repairs are done. It's unclear when that will begin.
