The City of East Wenatchee unveiled their new website as the calendar turned to 2021, albeit through a soft rollout.

Mayor Jerrilea Crawford says the company CivicPlus, which specializes in government agency websites, provided the software.

"In the end this website actually is less expensive than the one we were using before." explained Crawford, "So overall, after you subtract out the design and getting it up and running, it will actually save the city in the long run."

Although the city signed a 3-year, roughly $38,000 contract with CivicPlus, CARES Act funds will pay for the first two years, with the cost of the third year coming out of East Wenatchee's General Fund.

Most of the information on the previous website has already been carried over to the new one. The new site features more links to the city's records and background information, and Crawford added it's been designed to simplify the public records request process.
