The Eastmont School District is continuing its push for a uniform policy regarding students and cell phones.

Superintendent Garn Christensen said that the school board directed him Tuesday to create a community committee after a survey of supervisors within the district came back with mixed results.

"I'll be inviting people from each school." detailed Christensen, "Perhaps a PTA representative, a high school booster club representative, some participants from some of the health organizations in the valley, to their thoughts and opinions."

Those opinions will be collected over the next few months and turned into a policy draft. Surveys on the draft will then be provided to parents and district employees.

Afterward, the school board will enter into discussion on a final cell phone policy. The hope is to have a new, uniform cell phone policy in place by the next school year.
