A 36-year-old Ellensburg man is in custody on drug dealing charges after detectives say they found thousands of fentanyl pills at his home.

The arrest is part of a lengthy investigation into distribution of controlled substances by the Ellensburg Police Anti-Crime Team.

Detectives say they found roughly 2,000 fentanyl pills with an estimated street value of $20,000 after getting a search warrant for the man's home and car.

He faces three charges related to drug dealing and was booked into the Kittitas County Jail.

According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 80-100 times stronger than morphine, which has been diverted for abuse because of its powerful opioid properties.

Th Ellensburg man was arrested last Thursday, March 17.
