Grant County Fire District Three has moved into Station 37 which is located in the Trinidad area. The district's seventh station is a 4,500 square foot clear span metal building with three truck bays, 50 feet deep, and room to expand for resident firefighter quarters.

"We lost our station down in the island of Crescent Bar a few years ago when the Grant PUD refurbished the island," said Fire Chief Don Fortier. "So we purchased some land up on top of the hill at Trinidad a number of years ago with the idea of building a station here."

The district applied for a handful of strategic infrastructure project grants in Grant County and landed two grants for a total of $250,000 to support the construction of the station. The Station 37 project cost roughly $600,000. Local contractors constructed the building.

"We paid for the remainder of it with the funds we've been saving for a number of years for this fire station," said Chief Fortier.

The district moved in early January.
