The Cashmere-Dryden Airport has $22,000 from the American Rescue Plan that can be used to help make improvements at the facility.

Advisory Board member Bill McGlynn says it's part of other grant money that get each year.

"We used it for work on the runways and we still have some work to do on our taxiway. We're moving a gate at the airport so that we have a little bit more security at the airport. That will help going in that direction."

McGlynn says they often get funding, but they were awarded a little extra this year with the CARES Act.

"This is one of the primary defenses against fire in our Valley, the Cashmere Airport. We got a very nice letter from the California firefighters saying, 'We really appreciated the nice facility that you had. Thank you for letting us use it.'"

He also noted that the airport is a very valuable resource for local pilots.
