US Highway 2 is back open after a semi carrying 35,000 pounds of apples left the road just after 2:30 Friday afternoon about 2 miles east of Leavenworth.

Washington State Trooper John Bryant said they don't yet have a reason the driver crashed into a ditch about 20 feet off of the road, but conditions were not a factor.

"The truck had a white box trailer that was filled with about 35,000 pounds of apples," said Bryant.

There were no injuries. US 2 was initially closed but traffic is now moving through the area again. The tow company is still evaluating whether they can remove the semi Friday night or Saturday.

The driver has not yet been named, although the tractor and trailer were both registered in British Columbia.
