Seattle based College Spark Washington, a funding source for programs designed to aid low income students reach higher education, awarded $241,000 to seven rural school districts, including Manson and Lake Chelan. The funding is intended to support the remote learning transition due to COVID-19 with laptops and internet hotspots.

"We understand a lot of smaller communities didn't have the resources and we wanted to make sure the students who most needed the resources, in particular the electronic devices and hotspots, were able to get the resources," said Thai Craig, communications officer.

According to Craig, there was about $300,000 in the small districts fund to support small sized districts within rural communities.
