Leavenworth Holds Meeting on Reopening Business, Community

A Leavenworth focus group is conducting a meeting Thursday for a discussion surrounding the town and its downtown core reopening and reintroducing visitors in the midst of COVID-19.

"By nature, Leavenworth, our whole community is geared at drawing people from the outside," said Mayor Carl Florea. "We recognize we that we're in a unique situation."

The focus group consists of local businesses representing restaurants, general retail and overnight lodging along with the Chelan Douglas Health District, local healthcare representatives and the Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce.

"We're trying to prepare for that...I take very seriously the safety of this community, our residents, our guests and our employees," said Mayor Florea.
