The local Bavarian Village, Leavenworth, will celebrate Oktoberfest in 2021, however this year the celebration will take the form of Oktoberfest Markt instead of the typical festival fashion. The market will fall on the first three weekends in October with artisan vendors, food vendors and goods offered.

There was a need for ample time in advance to order the beer and authentic German bands along with receiving a strenuous set of regulations from the state; the nonprofit couldn't swing the normal festivities.

"Projekt Bayern is who created Oktoberfest. This is not a city of Leavenworth event, it is not ran by the Chamber," said Cary Sanger, Projekt Bayern president. "There's a lot of confusion when the city says they're looking for a new partner for Oktoberfest. The only thing that Projekt Bayern ever had to do through the city of Leavenworth was to get a permit signed off on to get our alcohol permitting."
