Link Transit is recruiting students to join its Transit Ambassador Program for its 13th year. Through the 30 volunteer hours in assisting with marketing and outreach efforts, ambassadors foster job skills and create scholarship references.

"Our Transit ambassadors that have participated in the program have gone on to - after getting some confidence in public speaking and educating the community on our transit system and professional dress and demeanor - a lot of different professional capacities," said Selina Danko, outreach specialist.

Students from any school in Link's service area 14 or older can apply until March 27th via Link's website. Applicants must submit a photo of themselves and an essay of 200 words or less. Transit ambassadors will get a free student freedom pass, training on FAQs and serve as a student representative for their school and the community.

"Sometimes it's just a matter of getting that necessary experience to step up into an internship experience," said Danko.
