The City of East Wenatchee has officially appointed Garren Melton their next Public Works Manager.

Melton was originally the city's Natural Resource Specialist but moved into the role of Interim Public Works Manager six months ago after the departure of Tom Wachholder.

Mayor Jerrilea Crawford said the biggest challenge Melton now faces is the long list of projects the city has coming up.

"We have some road projects on Grant Road happening soon. We're building out our Public Works Department and adding to our facilities. We're also doing some remodeling on our new police station building. All of those responsibilities fall under the Public Works Manager."

Crawford added that Melton's familiarity with city staff and operations, as well as his relationships with key city partners like the water and sewer districts, made him a good fit for the role.

The city is no longer searching for a new Natural Resource Specialist and will phase out the position. It is however looking for a new Staff Engineer.
