A Moses Lake man may be facing charges for opening fire on a fleeing car prowl suspect Christmas morning.

According to the Moses Lake Police Department, officers responded to the 1100 block of West Broadway Avenue for multiple reports of a car prowler around 9:30 am Saturday.

Captain Mike Williams said that once officers arrived, the owner of one of the cars admitted to firing his gun at the suspect vehicle as at least two people fled the scene. The man allegedly stated to police that he thought he may have hit one of the car's tires.

"Unless they are under immediate threat of assault from someone, we would urge that people be good witnesses, get good descriptions and give that information to us and let us follow up on the incident," said Williams.

The suspect car was found abandoned a few minutes later and has been impounded by the Moses Lake Police Department. The unidentified suspects are still at large.

Investigators will file a informational report with the prosecutor's office and will leave the decision to charge the car owner to them.
