The Washington Department of Commerce awarded $1.64 million for the Chelan County Housing Authority to put toward affordable housing in Leavenworth. The Bavarian Village Apartment in Leavenworth, located on Prospect Street, will be purchased with the funding and rehabilitated.

"The apartments are at risk of losing their affordable status and becoming market rate," said Alicia McRae, Chelan County Housing Authority executive director. "We're able to preserve and maintain the affordable status in the community."

The Housing Authority of Okanogan County also was awarded funding for Peach Tree Place in Brewster and Elmwood Apartments in Okanogan.
