With the weather improving, and many people feeling stuck in their homes during the pandemic, outdoor recreation provides a great option to exercise and get out of the house.

CVCH Chief Medical Officer Dr. Malcolm Butler says if you do go outdoors, make sure you have your mask in case you stop to talk with another person.

"Also, don't congregate at trail heads or boat launches. We tend to wait for people who we might be hiking with. I tend to wait for my family members to show up. If we're waiting for someone else, we should step off the trail. Don't stand right there at the trailhead or the boat launch where everybody is waiting. Space out."

Dr. Butler says that goes for the bike shop, the store, the gas station and all the other places we might go before we enjoy nature.

"When we're outside we have to remember we still have to be patient and polite. We need to step off the trail, we need to let people pass at a distance. You can smile behind that mask but we have to remember to still space out even though we are outside."

Dr. Butler says we are doing well and want to make sure we don't see a resurgence in COVID-19 cases.
