An 18-year-old Quincy High School student is in custody after allegedly bringing a gun to school Thursday.

According to the Quincy School District and Quincy Police Department, a student approached a staff member around 1:15 pm and shared that another student may have a gun. The district's School Resource Officer was contacted and the student in question was immediately escorted out of class.

Police searched his vehicle and found a firearm as well as drug paraphernalia inside. The car is now in possession of the police and investigators will seek a search warrant to examine the contents more closely.

The 18-year-old was arrested for having a dangerous weapon on school grounds and was emergency expelled from the district. Police are calling the discovery and arrest an isolated incident and that at not time were there threats made to the school.
