A member of the Chelan-Douglas Regional Port Commission re-elected last year will resign at the end of April to put his full focus on his businesses.

Chelan County District #3 Commissioner Rory Turner will be resigning effective April 30th.

Turner thanked the community, voters, and his fellow commissioners for his 6-year run.

Turner supported a regional approach to economic development and oversaw one of the biggest port decisions ever made in the state of Washington.

"The greatest challenge was frankly Pangborn Airport." said Turner, "It had been a problem because it was just problematic trying to manage it with two different ports."

Turner addressed the issues with managing Pangborn Memorial Airport by ultimately suggesting for the state's first regional port.

The Regional Port Board will soon approve a timeline for choosing a replacement. The appointed person will serve until the November 2023 election.
