The Rocky Reach Discovery Center is back open after a ribbon-cutting celebration Wednesday.

Chelan PUD General Manager Steve Wright said the Discovery Center is part of the legacy of Chelan County, including the famous fish ladder.

"One of the things that we did that was really important is we extended the window down, because it used to be that kids had a hard time sitting. You'd have to pick your kids up." explained Wright, "Now a 2-year-old can walk in and see a salmon swimming by them."

The Discovery Center has about a third more space than before the remodel, enough to fit new displays as well as old favorites like the Tule house, wood canoe and steamship wheel. New displays are organized around themes like the "Living River," "The People's Power," "Hydro Health," and "Fish Tales."
