Shon Smith Once Again Running for Chelan County Commissioner

Former Chelan County Commissioner candidate Shon Smith will run for District 2 again this year after an announcement Monday.

Smith said a lot has changed since he ran four years ago and it will take someone with a "heart for their community" to help lead the county.

"There's several topics now that are really pressing on both sides of several decisions that we're making in this valley when it comes to short term rentals and land use." Smith said, "Even property rights have come to a head. People are really saying, 'Get out of my back yard and let me do what I want to do.'"

Smith believes his experiences as owner of the Wok-About Grill for the last 25 years has helped provide him with the leadership skills required to lead.

Smith previously lost to current District 2 Commissioner Bob Bugert in a very tight race in 2018.

Bugert has announced he will not be seeking re-election this year.
