The Washington State Board of Health is set to decide Wednesday whether to add COVID-19 vaccinations to the list of required immunizations for school kids starting this fall.

An advisory panel set up to examine COVID-19 narrowly voted against recommending the shots earlier this year.

The health board does not have to follow the recommendation, although Washington already requires numerous vaccines for school children,

They include shots for polio, hepatitis B, measles, mumps, and chicken pox.

The advisory panel voted 7-6 against recommending COVID-19 be included on the list in January, with 4 members saying they were unsure
