It was a chaotic morning on State Route 28.

First, a serious accident on SR28 just outside of East Wenatchee around 10:30 am at the intersection with South Lyle Avenue shut down the highway in the area.

State Patrol Trooper John Bryant said it's possible one of the drivers was impaired and the other driver was a 17 year old boy.

"When you have a serious injury and impairment involved now you're looking at a criminal investigation, so our detectives are out there as well." Bryant said, "This could possibly be vehicular assault.

The collision was between a 2017 Ford Focus hatchback and a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville sedan. It's unclear which was the causing vehicle.

Two people were transported to Central Washington Hospital with serious injuries. One of the two were trapped in their vehicle and suffered a serious leg injury.

SR28 was closed in the area for about 3 hours.

Around the same time, SR28 was partially blocked near the Trinidad Turn about eight miles west of Quincy.

Bryant said an eastbound box truck rolled over. The driver was reportedly injured but was walking around the scene.

The road was partially blocked for around two and a half hours.
