It looks as though Chelan and Douglas counties will be split between two different state and congressional legislative districts for the next decade.

The Washington State Redistricting Commission's final legislative and congressional maps are likely going to become the law of the land after the Washington State Supreme Court ruled Friday that it would not adopt any new redistricting maps. The court found that the commission had resolved all disputes and approved the maps before their legal deadline of midnight November, 16th, but had been late in transmitting the maps to the legislature.

Any necessary tasks the commission needs complete may now be done in order to finalize the redistricting plan. The state legislature will either vote to approve the maps in January, or can amend the maps with a two-thirds vote in both chambers.
