With tax season upon us the opportunity for tax scammers is at an obvious high.

Tyler Russell of the Better Business Bureau Northwest-Pacific advises that you need to be vigilant with your personal information this time of year.

It's important to remember that the IRS will not call you directly for any reason. One should never give any personal information to unsolicited callers, such as social security number, credit card number, login info, date of birth or your address.

Spoofing, or masquerading as a trusted phone number or source the victim trusts, is also a type of scam to be especially aware of this time of year.
