Three Yakima residents survived after the small plane they were in clipped a hillside and flipped, landing on its top south of Ellensburg Sunday.

The Kittitas County Sheriff's Office says a Cessna, flown by 39-year-old Josh Soracco was attempting a low approach flyover of the runway when it failed to gain enough altitude and struck the hillside.

The pilot and two passengers were able to get out of the plane on their own accord though one of the passengers was eventually transported to Yakima Memorial Hospital with back and neck pain.

The FAA and NTSB have been notified.
