A Burlington Northern Santa Fe train derailed in the small town of Mabton northwest of the Tri-Cities Wednesday.

The Yakima County Sheriff's Office says three engines and seven cars of a BNSF container train derailed when it was hit by a semi-truck with a piece of farm equipment on it. The train was 116 cars long.

Yakima Valley Emergency Management says there was no danger to the public with crews having to clean up a fuel spill.

It's the second train crash in the state this week after an oil train derailed in the the town of Custer just south of Blaine in Whatcom County.

Both crashes are under investigation.
