We are getting into the heavy travel time of the year and many people worry about getting a sickness while they on the road.

Dr. Paul Pottinger with UW Medicine says most of us have intact immune systems to handle the different bugs we might come into contact with from the security lines, or an airplane seat.

"The only added thing people can do if they are coming in contact with a high-touch surface, including those security line boxes, just wash your hands with soap and water or use an alcohol-containing hand rub. Clean hands make a difference."

He also recommends getting your flu shot, noting that will help repel illness while traveling as well.
